A perfect implementation cannot fix an insecure design, because the needed control was never specified.\n\n**In practice.** Good practice is a secure development lifecycle in which security requirements are defined early, threat modelling is applied to critical flows such as authentication, payments and access control, and secure design patterns and reference components are reused. Business logic limits, such as rate limits and transaction caps, are part of the specification. Teams write tests that check abuse cases, not only expected use. Evidence includes threat models, documented security requirements, design review records and abuse case tests.\n\n**Common gaps.** Common gaps are threat modelling being skipped under delivery pressure, missing limits on business processes such as resource consumption or bulk operations, and security being added only at testing time. Design decisions are often not revisited when features change.",null,"https:\u002F\u002Fowasp.org\u002FTop10\u002FA04_2021-Insecure_Design\u002F","Read it at OWASP","2026-10-18T15:18:43.664+00:00",{"total":9,"list":17},[18,22],{"slug":19,"title":20,"published_at":21},"critical-elementor-pro-file-upload-flaw-opens-wordpress-sites-to-rce","Critical Elementor Pro File Upload Flaw Opens WordPress Sites to RCE","2026-08-20T16:20:52.725+00:00",{"slug":23,"title":24,"published_at":25},"critical-elementor-pro-flaw-enables-unauthenticated-remote-code-execution-via-file-upload-bypass","Critical Elementor Pro Flaw Enables Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution via File Upload Bypass","2026-08-20T08:21:09.593+00:00",[27,31,36,40],{"slug":28,"name":29,"problem":30,"stories":9},"patch-management","Automated patch management","Known holes get closed in days, not months.",{"slug":32,"name":33,"problem":34,"stories":35},"endpoint-detection-response","Endpoint detection and response (EDR and XDR)","Malware and hands-on-keyboard attackers on laptops and servers get spotted and stopped.",1,{"slug":37,"name":38,"problem":39,"stories":35},"vulnerability-management","Vulnerability scanning and prioritisation","You know which systems are vulnerable, and which ones to fix first.",{"slug":41,"name":42,"problem":43,"stories":35},"waf-ddos","Web application firewall and DDoS protection","Websites and APIs stay up, and common web attacks are filtered before they reach them.",[45,50,55,59,63,67,71,76],{"family":46,"item":47,"code":48,"title":49,"together":9},"cis","2","Control 2","Inventory and Control of Software Assets",{"family":51,"item":52,"code":53,"title":54,"together":9},"nist-800-53","si-2","SI-2","Flaw Remediation",{"family":51,"item":56,"code":57,"title":58,"together":9},"si-3","SI-3","Malicious Code Protection",{"family":46,"item":60,"code":61,"title":62,"together":9},"7","Control 7","Continuous Vulnerability Management",{"family":46,"item":64,"code":65,"title":66,"together":9},"13","Control 13","Network Monitoring and Defense",{"family":51,"item":68,"code":69,"title":70,"together":35},"cm-7","CM-7","Least Functionality",{"family":72,"item":73,"code":74,"title":75,"together":35},"nist-csf","pr-ip","PR.IP-12","Information Protection Processes and Procedures (CSF 1.1)",{"family":5,"item":5,"code":77,"title":78,"together":35},"OWASP","OWASP (Open Worldwide Application Security Project)"]
